Deep Deep Water

Bowers & Wilkins often provide a wonderful platform for new bands to create music in the best possible studios. As well as supporting up and coming talent this also gives Society of Sound subscribers the opportunity to discover brand new music from bright new artists.

Deep Deep Water are Talia Cohen on vocals, Frankie Bowmaker on lead guitar, Jimmy Sheals on drums and Bernard Steen on synth - all collectively hailing from East London.

Deep Deep Water are a truly collaborative project.... Songwriting, instrumentation and sound design are a single process in which all band members are equally involved. Their songwriting and performance is a reflection of their shared youth, growing up together from early school years. With a combination of jazz influenced drums and soaring vocals that can be as gentle as they are powerful, combined with techno synths and rock guitar riffs, this band are causing a sensation on the UK live circuit, described by NME as ‘one of London’s most exciting new acts’.

Their songs are technical and sophisticated, with musical reference points touching on Radiohead vs. Warpaint, hints of Massive Attack / Portishead inspired trip-hop grooves, and vocal deliveries reminiscent of Bjork. Their first recording sessions came courtesy of Bowers & Wilkins, at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios. Here the band worked closely with producer Richard Norris who, as one half of Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, masterminded the 're-animation' of Temples' debut album.

Deep Deep Water’s first album of the same title, is due out later in 2018 on Hot Chip’s label offshoot Greco-Roman but subscribers can download now via Society of Sound.
